I was inspired by the image of a leaf after noticing how the outline of a particular leaf perfectly matched the silhouette of the tree it fell from. Each individual leaf stands on its stem, representing a tree. Together these leaves become a forest, yet each leaf has it’s own individual character. The trees illustrate a micro macro shift; a shift between leaf and tree, tree and landscape. These sculptures are slip-cast porcelain, coated with a crystalline glaze. They are hollow and each is finished with a base made of cement containing pieces of feldspar.
